Clouds / Nuages

Yesterday we (Isa + Pierre + Gilles) experienced a crazy weather in Manhattan : 70°F, sunny sky with huge milky clouds. We went to the usual spot in Queens, facing Manhattan. We colloected a couple of interesting (?) pictures of clouds.

Hier, par un temps estival > 20°C, on est allé refaire pour la n-ième fois la photo de Manhattan vue du Queens. En fin d'après-midi, des gros nuages s'étirent lentement, à peine (!) déformé par le grand angle 16mm.



A typical urban landscape of New-York . Old docks falling into the river. Nasty smell . We had to go through a hole in the fence to get there. Kids play, older people sipping a beer, facing the river. It's worth a black and white picture. Usually, for pictures that aren't so great, I convert them in B&W and then feel much comfortable with them.

Décor typique du New York délabré. Des enfants jouent, les plus vieux sirotent une bière. C est de la photo sociale, avec des vrais gens, et c'est pas si souvent. Du coup, un peu de Noir et blanc pour le coté Depardon.



Some of you already wonder what these pics would lool like in full colors. So I can't refuse showing you one of these. Warm light on the docks, no light on Manhattan. Contrast of ligthing is striking and the cloud above Manhattan is weird.

Le meme point de vue en couleur. Une lumiere chaude innonde le quai. On aura attendu presque une heure que la même lumiere illumine les buildings de Manhattan. En vain.



Let's end this post with a picture of the big factory accross the river. We are now close to sunset. It's time to go to another spot to take the traditional sunset-on-Manhattan skylines pictures (next post).
